Toby Keith's fans were blindsided by an online scammer posing as the country star, shamelessly asking country lovers for money in order to officially join his new fan club. Keith's camp issued a statement on the imposter, assuring fans that the singer would never personally reach out to his fanbase, let alone attempt to solicit money.
"To All Toby Fans –
It has come to our attention that there is a scam involving an individual or individuals passing themselves off as Toby and management asking fans for money and to join a new fan club. Please note, Toby will never contact you personally to ask for money or otherwise. This is the only legitimate Toby Keith profile and all fan club events will only be announced here and at TobyKeith.com."

No word has broken on if anyone has helplessly fallen victim to the scam and distributed money to the imposters. It is important to remember that Keith's accounts are also publicly verified by various platforms, hopefully now making fans aware of legitimate accounts opposed to self-made profiles.
