Those planning to attend Toby Keith's concert at the Florence Civic Center in South Carolina on Thursday night (September 22) will have to wait a little longer to see the country superstar. The night before the concert, SC Now reported that Keith had been forced to postpone the show.
Tickets will be honored for the rescheduled concert, which will take place on March 9, 2017. For those who are unable to attend the new date, refunds will be available for a limited time.
Keith didn't postpone the concert because of sickness, but rather because of high gas prices and fuel shortages in South Carolina and the rest of the Southeast. According to Florence Civic Center General Manager Kendall Wall, they received several concerned messages from people planning to attend the concert that were worried about the fuel situation.
"This is a major show for the region which attracts fans within a one to two-hour drive and beyond," Wall said. "We understand the growing concerns for Toby's fans and our own fans, as we've been receiving distress messages over the past couple days."
Together, the Florence Civic Center officials and Keith's managers decided that postponing the concert was the best thing to do for fans. "It would be unfair for these fans and unrealistic for them to travel given the current dismal situation with gas prices and availability," Wall said.
So far, all of Keith's remaining concerts for 2016 are set to take place as scheduled. Now that the South Carolina concert has been postponed, his next show is in Tampa, Florida on Friday (September 23).
Although those in South Carolina will have to wait a little bit longer to see Keith than they had planned, it will be well worth that wait. He's one awesome performer, as you can see from one of his live performances in the video below.
