U.S. Marines Gather For Performance Of Spiritual Song

The Church Guide / YouTube

Country music has always been full of songs about faith and salvation. From Hank Williams‘ “I Saw the Light” to Carrie Underwood‘s “Something in the Water,” there are many faith-based songs in country music.

Beyond that, some country singers have dedicated their time to recording complete gospel albums. Just a few artists to do so include Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire, and George Jones.

Although the song “Days of Elijah” did not originate as a country song, its base in gospel and faith is what makes it relatable to country fans. The song was written by Irish singer-songwriter Robin Mark, and is considered to be one of his most recognizable works.

“Days of Elijah” is now a treasured song to sing during church services and other times of worship. As one video shows, the song is also a favorite of some U.S. Marines.

Back in 2014, a video made its way online that showed a group of Marines singing “Days of Elijah” during worship time. The Marines all gathered in rows behind the desks in the room, with many of them wrapping their arms around each other.

Singing with great passion, the Marines swayed from side to side. Later on, the whole group jumped into the air as they continued to sing with unbridled enthusiasm.

The inspirational video of the Marines singing “Days of Elijah” struck a cord with millions of people around the world. As of press time, the video has been viewed 3.5 million times.

Once you watch the clip below, you’ll understand exactly why it has generated such a reaction. These Marines’ moving performance is one that is sure to give you goosebumps, and may even make you cry.

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to all of these Marines for their service.
