Who would have thought that a film about three escaped convicts would be such a big hit? Well that’s exactly what happened when the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou? made its debut in 2000.
Set in the Depression-era South, the movie follows characters Everett, Pete, and Delmar as they take off in pursuit of Everett’s hidden treasure. The three encounter a host of interesting people along the way, including a guitar player named Tommy. Together, the four of them record a song as The Soggy Bottom Boys called “I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow.”
Everett eventually reunites with his wife, Penny, only to discover that she has a new suitor. He spends the rest of the movie trying to win her back, and eventually succeeds.
