BREAKING: Nick Reiner’s Lawyer Alan Jackson Withdraws From Case
on Jan 07, 2026

Nick Reiner’s attorney, Hollywood lawyer Alan Jackson, will no longer represent him.
Jackson has officially withdrawn from representing Reiner in the case where he faces murder charges in connection to the deaths of his parents, late Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele.
TMZ confirmed the news on Wednesday, January 7, which was Reiner’s first court appearance of the new year. The outlet reports that he will now be represented by public defender Kimberly Greene.
The reason Jackson has stepped away from the case is not known at this time. Over the years, he has represented several high-profile clients, including Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, and Karen Read.
Because of the change in his legal representation, Reiner will now have a new arraignment date. A judge has signed off for him to appear in court again on February 23.
A spokesperson for the Reiner family shared a statement regarding Jackson’s departure from the case. They told the outlet that the Reiners “have the utmost trust in the legal process and will not comment further on matters related to the legal proceedings.”
Nick Reiner, 32, is facing two counts of first-degree murder charges after his parents were found dead in their Los Angeles home on December 14.

According to the New York Times, authorities were called to the Reiner residence after Rob and Michele’s daughter, Romy, went inside and found her father’s body.
Romy had first been contacted by a massage therapist who arrived for an appointment but became concerned when no one answered the gate.
Once paramedics arrived, Romy was told that her mother’s body was also found. The Reiners’ son Nick was arrested on suspicion of his parents’ murder just a few hours after.
Three days later, their official cause of death was revealed. Reports reveal that Rob and Michele were killed by “multiple sharp force injuries.” The couple’s deaths were ruled a homicide.
Rob and Michele were also parents to son Jake and Rob’s adopted daughter, Tracy Reiner.
On December 17, Romy and Jake released a statement on behalf of their grieving family. The statement, shared by PEOPLE, reads:
“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”
They continued, “We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life. We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave.”
