Outdoor Stages Closed At Start of Festival’s 2nd Day

Many attendees of CMA Fest are hoping they’ll be able to “soak up the sun,” as well as see their favorite country artists perform.

However, the threat of thunderstorms delayed some outdoor performances at the start of the second day of the Nashville-based festival, on Friday, June 6.

Posting on social media, organizers of the CMA Fest wrote:

“We’re continuing to monitor storms west of Nashville. Our weather team tracks any lightning activity within an 8-mile radius of the festival. When a strike happens, we pause for 30 minutes.”

Continuing, CMA said, “We’re now past that [30-minute] window, but storms to the west could move back into the 8-mile zone soon.”

As a result, CMA Fest initially had its outdoor stages closed with the festival’s weather team continuing “to monitor the current weather situation.”

By 2 p.m., outdoor performances were underway, but came to a halt by 3 p.m. (CT), with all daytime outdoor shows suspended.

“With more inclement weather expected this evening, Nissan Stadium and Ascend Amphitheater gates will experience a delay in opening by at least 90 minutes,” CMA posted on X, formerly Twitter.

At 5 p.m. (CT), CMA Fest posted the following weather update on Instagram, stating it was taking an extra hour to evaluate weather conditions.

By 6:15 p.m. (CT), CMA Fest announced it would open the gates to the Nissan Stadium at 8 p.m. (CT), with performances to begin at 9 p.m. (CT).

Similarly, the gates to the Ascend Amphitheater are scheduled to open at 7:45 p.m. (CT), with performances set to begin at 8:15 p.m. (CT).

How To Stay Up To Date If You’re At CMA Fest?

CMA Fest is encouraging attendees to enable notifications in the CMA Connect app. Through this app, attendees will be able to stay in the loop regarding stage openings and more.

“If severe weather happens, seek shelter in nearby businesses,” CMA Fest encouraged on its social media story.

Music City Center is one of the best places to seek shelter, according to Fox 17 WZTV Nashville.

Further, Fan Fair X at Music City Center is going on indoors, so attendees can continue enjoying the CMA Fest offerings without worrying about the weather.

Acts that are scheduled to take the stage later today include Midland, on the Chevy Riverfront Stage; and The Band Perry, on the Hard Rock Stage; as well as Shaboozey, Parker McCollum, Cody Johnson, Kelsea Ballerini, and Keith Urban on the Nissan Stadium Main Stage.

Country Rebel will continue providing coverage of CMA Fest today, and on Saturday and Sunday.
