Cody Johnson Calls For Unity In America
Country superstar Cody Johnson has never been one to remain silent about his love for the United States of America.
While performing at the Tailgate N’ Tallboys festival last weekend (June 14), Johnson paused mid-performance to address the unrest amid widespread national protests.
“All I’ve seen is division but tonight, at my show, we’re gonna talk about unity. Earlier I mentioned how we’re all different, but you know there’s three things we all have in common, those things are red, white and blue,” Johnson said.
With a crowd of around 25,000 in front of him, the singer called for unity under the American flag:
“We’re gonna protest the protests. We’re gonna sing a song out of unity.”
Asking the men in the audience to remove their hats, Johnson then led the crowd in singing “God Bless America.”

Johnson Is Proud Of The Red, White And Blue
In July 2024, Johnson took time out of his Windy City Smokeout performance to address the President Trump rally shooting.
“Here’s what I am going to say about it, and I hope you hear me out … The fact that any American citizen would think that what they did today would solve a problem in this country is absolutely disgusting. You want to solve a problem in this country, on Election Day go in there and vote for who you want,” Johnson said at the time. “Because before most of you were born, an American soldier died for you to have the right to disagree with someone else.”
He continued:
“I’m tired of the hatred; I’m tired of the division. I’m tired of people talking about Trump and Biden. Let me tell you something: there’s people in this crowd that agree with Trump, there are people in this crowd that agree with Biden. Guess what? That is your God-given American right to believe whatever you want. That right was fought with sacrifice. Sacrifice from a dead police officer. Sacrifice from a dead firefighter. A dead soldier that went over and said, ‘You know what? I’m gonna die for something bigger.’ So, I don’t give a damn who you vote for, and I don’t give a damn how you feel about what’s on the news. There are only three things I give a damn about tonight, you listening to me? They are red, white, and blue.”
Cody Johnson’s Performance Comes As Protests Spread Throughout The Nation
Johnson’s call for unity occurred the same weekend as the “No Kings” protests were being held across the country, coinciding with President Trump’s 79th birthday and the U.S. Army’s 250th-anniversary parade.
Over 5 million people took place in the demonstrations in more than 2,100 cities, protesting what they call “authoritarian” tendencies under President Trump.
Protests have also broken out in big cities nationwide, as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids have taken place in major cities and rural areas.
Following a series of ICE raids in Los Angeles on June 6, agitators have been clashing with various law enforcement personnel for weeks, compelling President Trump to federalize the California National Guard.
