Paducah, Kentucky, native Justin Holmes received his first guitar at the age of 15, just before his father’s death. He began songwriting and performing as a way to channel his grief.
At 18, Holmes joined the U.S. Air Force and served as a Security Forces member for 14 years, primarily as a weapons instructor.
Throughout his time in the military, he continued to play his guitar, often performing for his fellow service members. As he grew as a musician and songwriter, Holmes drew inspiration from his own experiences such as past traumas, struggles with addiction, his love for his family, and his spiritual beliefs.
In 2019, Justin Holmes teamed up with Country Rebel to participate in The George Jones Sessions, a music video series recorded at the George Jones Museum in honor of the late singer. Holmes recorded his debut single, “Damn Addiction,” during the sessions which has garnered nearly 4 million views on YouTube to date. And the song has been streamed more than 11 million times on Spotify.
In 2022, Holmes became the first artist signed to the newly-formed Country Rebel Records.
