The Decision Comes One Week After The Restaurant Unveiled A New Logo
“Our new logo is going away and our ‘Old Timer’ will remain,” said Cracker Barrel in a social media post in the evening of Tuesday, August 26.
This change is a 180-degree shift following the divisive announcement made by Cracker Barrel on August 20, in which the restaurant announced it was making some changes — unveiling a new logo that removed the likeness of Uncle Herschel.
It also announced it was remodeling its locations, turning away from its antique-laden, step-into-the-past vibe.
This was met with significant backlash, with its stock value taking a significant dive on August 21, falling at most just over 14%. When the market closed that day, Cracker Barrel’s stock was down 7.15%, for a dip in estimated market value of over $100 million.
As of August 25, the restaurant, known for its scratch-made homestyle country cooking had lost an estimated $143 million in market value.
With the reactions to the announced changes pouring in, even President Donald Trump chimed in, posting to Truth Social on Tuesday, August 26, describing the changed logo and other announcements as a “mistake,” but one with an opportunity, potentially to the tune of “a billion dollars worth of free publicity.”
Here is Trump’s full statement:

Cracker Barrel’s announcement of its return to the old logo followed Trump’s post by nearly 8 hours, and came one day after it gave a lengthy defense of its changes, stating on August 25, “While our logo and remodels may be making headlines, our bigger focus is still right where it belongs… in the kitchen and on your plate.”
Now, the company has reversed course on its logo.
