Ella Langley Teases What Fans Can Expect From Her CMA Awards Performance Of “Choosin’ Texas”
on Nov 18, 2025

We are just one day away from country music’s biggest night as the 2025 CMA Awards get ready to air on Wednesday, November 19.
While viewers still have to wait to see who takes home awards, we already know the show will be packed with an incredible lineup of performances.
One that fans are especially excited about is Ella Langley’s. She will be taking the stage to perform her newly released song “Choosin’ Texas.”

Langley released the track in October after teasing it for months during a few live shows earlier in the year.
Not only was the track her first release after taking a break from the spotlight to focus on her health, but it is also extra special because she cowrote it with country superstar Miranda Lambert.
In fact, the whole song is based on a crazy real-life experience that Lambert once had… and it involves her, a kangaroo, and the police.
During an appearance at The Listening Room in Nashville, Langley explained the wild story behind the song.
“She told me she had a pet kangaroo, and she was doing something, she was driving down a dirt road, and the kangaroo was in the back seat, and the dog was in the front seat. There was a lot going on,” she shared.
Langley continued, “Then she got pulled over with a kangaroo in the passenger seat. And I was like, ‘This story’s as good as I thought it would be.’ She said the lady cop pulled her over, and she’s like, ‘Of course I have Texas plates on the back of my car.’”
After hearing that story, the lyrics came to her and Lambert fast. Langley said they finished the song in about 30 minutes.
What Can Fans Expect From Her CMA Awards Performance?
With such a special song, fans are only assuming that Langley’s live performance is going to be one to remember. Recently, she teased what fans can look forward to when she steps onto the CMA stage to sing the track.
“There’s going to be some dancing,” she revealed to Taste of Country. “You’re going to feel the longing the song describes — missing that person, whether it’s where they’re living or who they want to be with.”
Her performance will also draw a lot of inspiration from the song’s music video.
“It’s just a good ol’ country song with some two-steppin’ in it,” she added.
Not only is Langley set to perform, but she’s also one of the most nominated artists at this year’s ceremony.
She’s up for six awards, including New Artist of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Single of the Year, Musical Event of the Year, and Music Video of the Year.
The 2025 CMA Awards will start airing on Wednesday night (Nov. 19) at 8/7c PM on ABC. Fans will be able to stream the three-hour ceremony on Hulu the next day (Nov. 20).
