A Family Has Reunited With Their Dog After Losing Him In The Floodwaters
When powerful floodwaters swept through their neighborhood last weekend in Central Texas, the Vlasek family had only moments to act.
As the water rose quickly inside their house, reaching waist level, they were forced to evacuate for their safety. In the chaos, their beloved dog had gone missing.
They made the difficult decision to escape to a neighbor’s house on higher ground. Just 20 minutes later, their entire home was under water.
In the aftermath, as the floodwaters finally began to recede, their son Cody Vlasek, a senior at Ingram Tom Moore High School, returned to the family’s devastated home to assess the damage. While walking through the mud and debris, something caught his attention.
Cody realized the heeler was inside of the family’s washing machine, alive.
“I had to break my window. When I climbed through, I heard scratching and kind of a whimper, and so I turned my head around the corner and I saw him (the dog) just floating there in the washer,” Cody recalled.

Texas Sees Catastrophic Tragedy Following The Deadly Flood
Officials have confirmed that at least 120 people have lost their lives in the catastrophic flash flooding that struck central Texas — a disaster now counted among the deadliest inland flood events in the state’s recent history. Tragically, the death toll includes at least 36 children.
Emergency response teams have carried out over 850 high-water rescues, deploying helicopters, drones, and Coast Guard boats in a race against time to locate the more than 170 people still unaccounted for.
Entire communities have been devastated, with homes swept away and roads turned into rivers within minutes. Families remain on edge, clinging to hope for any sign of their missing loved ones.
