Rory McIlroy Is Grateful To Live In America
Professional golfer Rory McIlroy knows firsthand just how incredibly blessed he is to live in the United States.
McIlroy, who is originally from Ireland, first moved to America in 2013, when he purchased a home in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
The golfer gained national recognition in 2011 after winning his first major championship, the U.S. Open, which secured his status as a rising star in the sport.
His fame grew significantly in the years following, leading to the 2012 and 2014 PGA Championships and solidifying his position as one of golf’s top players by age 25.
From a young age, the golfer dreamed of playing in the United States and eventually built his incredibly successful career in this country.
McIlroy was born in Holywood, Northern Ireland and was introduced to golf by his father, Gerry, who worked multiple jobs to support his endeavors.
“My dad was at one stage was taking on three jobs during the day to support these trips we were taking to the United States for me to play in golf tournaments,” McIlroy shared in a previous interview.
McIlroy Belives America Is The Greatest Country To Ever Exist
While speaking to reporters while at the Ryder Cup, McIlroy shared that the United States is the ultimate “land of opportunity.”
“I still belive it’s the greatest country in the world, and if you come here and you work hard and you dedicate yourself, you can be or do whatever you want,” the golfer said.
McIlroy, who married his wife, Erica Stoll, in 2017, says he is “unbelievably grateful and lucky that I got to come to America early on.”
He shared that he believes there is a sense of work ethic in the U.S. unlike anywhere in the world.
