President Trump Expresses Hope This Will Lead To “Strong, Durable, And Everlasting Peace”
Two days after the two-year anniversary of the October 7 terrorist attack — which was perpetrated by Hamas against Israel in 2023 and saw 1,195 people killed and 250 hostages taken — Israel and Hamas were preparing to enter a ceasefire in pursuit of the end of the war.
This ceasefire was agreed to on October 10, with both nations agreeing to the first phase of a peace deal that was brokered by the United States with assistance from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey.
Through this peace agreement, which had 20 stipulations and may be viewed here, Israel and Hamas exchanged prisoners on Monday, October 13, with Hamas releasing the 20 surviving hostages who were taken by Hamas in its terror attack over two years ago. The remains of another 25 hostages are also anticipated.
In addition to releasing prisoners, Israel also returned some of the territory it gained in Gaza.
Announcing the news of the peace plan on October 8, President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that evening, quoting from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5:9, saying, “BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS!”
Traveling to the Middle East for the second time this year, Trump attended two significant peace deal signings on October 13, with one held before the legislative body of Israel, the Knesset; and the other held in Egypt with many regional leaders and others in attendance.

Signing The Peace Plan
“This is not only the end of a war, this is the end of an age of terror and death, and the beginning of the age of faith and hope and of God,” said Trump while addressing the Knesset.
There, Trump was met with a standing ovation from many members of the Knesset, and was lauded for his administration’s efforts in ending the Gaza War.
Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana said, “Mr. President, you stand before the people of Israel not as another American president, but as a giant of Jewish history — one for whom we must look back two-and-a-half millennia into the mists of time to find a parallel, in Cyrus the Great.”
This comparison to Cyrus the Great is particularly poignant, with Isaiah 45 chronicling the words of God regarding his selection and anointing of the Persian leader.
Isaiah 45:1-2,4, reads:
“Thus says the Lord to His anointed, To Cyrus, whose right hand I have held — To subdue nations before him and loose the armor of kings, to open before him the double doors, so that the gates will not be shut: ‘I will go before you and make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron … For Jacob My servant’s sake, and Israel My elect, I have even called you by your name; I have named you, though you have not known Me.'”
Cyrus the Great would go on to free the Jewish people from captivity in Babylon.

Beyond Trump’s appearance at the Knesset, he also attended a peace summit in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
Leaders from 30 nations, notably including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Japan, gathered to sign on to the peace plan.
While none of these leaders were required to sign the document, the international support for the plan for peace between Israel and Palestine was illustrated at this summit.

About The Gaza War
Following the October 7, 2023, terrorist attack perpetrated by Hamas, which is the governing authority over Palestine, Israel retaliated with an extensive ground incursion.
Israel began a full-scale invasion of Gaza on October 27, 2023.
Throughout this war, an estimated 2.3 million Palestinians were displaced by the conflict. Further, it is estimated that as many as 64,000 Palestinians have died in the war, while 2,000 Israelis have been killed.
During Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to NATO on September 26, he said, “To the remaining Hamas leaders, and to the jailers of our hostages, I now say, ‘Lay down your arms! Let my people go! Free the hostages, all of them, the whole 48. Free the hostages now!'”

Speaking about the October 7 attack during his remarks to the Knesset on October 13, Trump said the following in light of the end of the war:
The cruelty of October 7th struck to the core of humanity itself. Nobody could believe what they were witnessing. The United States of America grieved alongside you, and we mourn for our own citizens who were so viciously taken that day, and to all the families whose lives were forever changed by the atrocities of that day, and all of the people of Israel, please know that America joins you in those two everlasting vows: ‘Never Forget, and Never Again.’
Trump’s predecessor, former President Joe Biden, released a statement on X, formerly Twitter, about the historic peace deal the Trump administration oversaw.
writing:
I am deeply grateful and relieved that this day has come – for the last living 20 hostages who have been through unimaginable hell and are finally reunited with their families and loved ones, and for the civilians in Gaza who have experienced immeasurable loss and will finally…

Similarly, former Vice President Kamala Harris, who ran against Trump in the 2024 presidential election after Biden withdrew from the presidential race, posted on X of the accomplishment, simply referring to Trump as “the President.”
