The Country Star Visits His Former School To Support The Students After The Tragedy

Jelly Roll visited his alma mater on February 25, one month after a fatal school shooting.

On January 22, a lone gunman, identified as Solomon Henderson, a high school student, entered the school and fired a total of ten shots from a nine-millimeter pistol. Tragically, Henderson took the life of one of his fellow students before turning the gun on himself. In addition to the two deaths, two other students were injured, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

Jelly Roll’s Visit To The High School

A teacher from Antioch High School stated that the students returned to school too soon and were clearly unprepared. They said,

“It’s clear, clear, they are not ready. Coming back less than a week after two of their fellow students died, many in front of them, they needed more time.”

It is not surprising that the kids affected in the shooting would still be dealing with the trauma of witnessing it firsthand.

Jelly Roll, who had a difficult time while attending high school himself, returned to support the students during this challenging period. The singer attended Antioch High School, which was a challenging time as she spent her later teen years incarcerated, starting at age 14.

Metro Nashville Public Schools shared a series of photos on Instagram showcasing the visit. Jelly Roll is all smiles as he posed for selfies with the students.

The Instagram caption read,

“Music superstar @jellyroll615 visited @antiochbearshome on Tuesday to talk to students and staff about the tragedy that took place there last month.”

The post went on to thank the country music star saying, “Thank you, Jelly Roll, for reaching out to the Antioch community and offering some comfort during a difficult time. We appreciate your support!”
