Jelly Roll’s Wife Reveals He’s Giving Away One Of His Grammy Awards For A Very Personal Reason
on Feb 04, 2026

Jelly Roll’s life changed earlier this week when he became a first-time Grammy winner, and he has no plans to keep the honor all to himself.
On Sunday, February 1, some of music’s biggest stars walked away with trophies at the 68th annual Grammy Awards. One of the night’s biggest winners was Jelly Roll, who not only earned his first Grammy ever but also ended up with three wins total.
The country star took home the titles for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Amen” with Shaboozey, Best Contemporary Country Album for his album Beautifully Broken, and Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for his collaboration on “Hard Fought Hallelujah” with Brandon Lake.

Two of his wins were announced ahead of the live broadcast. But later, he was able to get on stage and give an acceptance speech for his Contemporary Country album win.
If you’ve seen Jelly Roll accept an award before, you probably know it’s usually an unforgettable moment. He’s become known for delivering powerful, heartfelt speeches, and this time was no different.
His Grammy acceptance speech quickly became one of the most memorable and talked-about moments afterwards.
He began his speech by thanking two of the most important figures in his life: his wife, Bunnie, and Jesus.
“They’re going to try to kick me off here, so just let me try to get this out. First of all, Jesus, I hear you, and I’m listening. Lord, I am listening. Lord,” the singer exclaimed, trophy in hand.
“Second of all, I want to thank my beautiful wife,” he continued. “I would have never changed my life without you. I would have ended up dead or in jail. I would have killed myself if it wasn’t for you and Jesus. I thank you for that.”
The 41-year-old went on to recall some of his darkest days and how his faith turned everything around.
“There was a moment in my life where all I had was a Bible this big and a radio the same size in a six-by-eight-foot cell… I believed that those two things could change my life. I believe that music had the power to change my life, and God had the power to change my life.”
“And I want to tell y’all right now Jesus is for everybody. Jesus is not owned by one political party. Jesus is not owned by no music label. Jesus is Jesus, and anybody can have a relationship with Him. I love you, Lord,” he concluded.

Jelly Roll Plans To Give One Of His Grammys Away
Winning a Grammy is a huge honor on its own, and taking home three in one night makes it even more unreal. However, Jelly Roll won’t be taking all of them home with him.
Later, his wife Bunnie told Entertainment Tonight that he plans to give one of his trophies to the Davidson County Juvenile Detention Center.
“I know he’s going to give one to the Juvenile in Nashville to kind of give them a little inspiration and let them have a Grammy to themselves,” she said.
This is the same place where Jelly Roll spent much of his teenage years.
“That is my husband,” Bunnie said after the interviewer praised Jelly Roll’s decision. “That’s what he does.”
Jelly Roll has always been open about the struggles he faced growing up. He spent much of his youth in and out of jail. He was arrested for the first time at just 14 years old.
He’s spent a lot of his time trying to inspire those in similar situations. The singer even visits inmates to talk with them across the country.
