Tavia Hunt shares a heartbreaking tribute to “precious little cousin” Janie Hunt, who tragically passed at Camp Mystic.

9-year-old Janie Hunt was one of the over 100 who tragically passed over the weekend due to the harrowing floods.

Severe weather in central Texas brought on massive floods with little to no warning, and many were swept away in the violent water. A Christian camp, Camp Mystic, was affected by the tragic flooding.

Janie Hunt attended the camp when she went missing due to the floods. Her body was found on Saturday afternoon.

She was descended from the renowned American oil magnate William Herbert Hunt, being his great-granddaughter.

She is now a member of Clark Hunt’s family, the owner of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Clark Hunt’s Wife, Tavia Hunt, Shares Her Grief Online

Tavia took to social media to share her family’s grief, saying.

“Our hearts are broken by the devastation from the floods in Wimberley and the tragic loss of so many lives – including a precious little Hunt cousin, along with several friend’s little girls.”

She shared the post along with a sentiment that many are feeling following the tragedy. Tavia questioned the goodness of God in the midst of the overwhelming sadness of the loss.

“How do we trust a God who is supposed to be good, all knowing and all powerful, but who allows such terrible things to happen — even to children?”

She then, however, continued her post with a long list of bible verses about loss and mourning. Prior to the list, she said,

“That is a sacred and tender question — and one the Bible doesn’t shy away from. Scripture is filled with the cries of those whose hearts have been shattered, who still wrestle to trust the same God they believe allowed the pain.”
