Kelly Clarkson Has Dealt With Many Criticisms Over Her Career

Superstar Kelly Clarkson is opening up about the harsh realities of being in the limelight today.

Discussing her newly released song and tastefully revealing music video, the singer shared in an interview with Today With Jenna & Friends how many people around her have often been very “cruel” regarding her appearance.

“In all honesty, I’ve had a lot of people in my career tell me — I mean, be very cruel,” Clarkson said. “And say, ‘Oh, you look s***** if you wear this.’ You look…’Da da da’ if you wear this. Oh, I’ve had people be very cruel. And so, it’s just like, I’ve never been able to be what I want for that moment, for that song, what that character calls for. Because they’re all different characters, right?”

Clarkson shared that her recent weight loss journey has encouraged her to show off her slimmer figure in the new “Where Have You Been” video.

“This was a very sexy moment. It’s a song about that intimate moment where you finally go, ‘Wow. I just found the unicorn situation, and I did not know that was on the bingo card for my life,'” the singer shared.

“Look, I lost some weight, and I was like, ‘You put me in something fitting. Cause I don’t know how long this will last,'” Clarkson joked.

Kelly Clarkson Shares How She Lost Weight “Without Ozempic”

Earlier this year, the singer-turned-talk show host shared how she has shed the weight with the help of medication that was “not Ozempic.”

“Mine is a different one than people assume, but I ended up having to do that too because my bloodwork got so bad,” Clarkson told Women’s Health at the time.

While she didn’t specify the exact medication she is on, Clarkson did note that it’s “something that aids in helping break down the sugar—obviously my body doesn’t do it right.”

On January 29, the singer shared that what truly got her serious about getting healthy was being told she was prediabetic.

“That was literally what happened,” she said in front of the audience. “They were like — and I was, well, I wasn’t shocked. I was a tiny bit overweight. So, yeah, but I wasn’t shocked by it. But they did. They were like, ‘You’re prediabetic. You’re right on the borderline.’”

The Original American Idol Winner Has Always Cared More For Inner Beauty

During a previous interview with the podcast hosts of Smartless, Clarkson claimed that during her time on American Idol, a producer was not happy with her lackluster attitude regarding hair and makeup.

“They were like, ‘So we’re about to be on camera,’ and I was like, ‘I know,’” she said, recalling her time on the show. “And they were like, ‘But you’re going to be on camera,’ and I was like, ‘I know.’”

“One producer in particular, very high up, was not a fan of me just because I didn’t play that game. And it wasn’t even playing a game. The other four girls that season were very into that stuff. They were very into it,” the singer explained.

Clarkson even wore very little, if any, make up for her first audition at the beginning of the season.
