Kelly Clarkson Explains Why She’s Ending Her Talk Show, Says “It’s Time To Pull Back”

Kelly Clarkson Recently Announced That Her Daytime Talk Show Will End After Seven Seasons
The Kelly Clarkson Show has been on the air since 2019, with over 1,100 episodes gracing fans’ television screens. But at the beginning of this month, Kelly announced that she had made the decision to end the show.

The official announcement came on February 2 via a post on both Kelly and the show’s Instagram pages. In it, she explained that her main focus right now is her family, and stepping away from the show is necessary to prioritize them.
“This season will be my last hosting TKCS. Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives,” the announcement read. “This isn’t goodbye. I’ll still be making music, playing shows here and there, and you may catch me on The Voice from time to time…you never know where I might show up next.”
The news was sad for many fans, but most understood that the “Stronger” singer needs to put her children, Remi (9) and River Rose (11), before anything else. Especially right now, as they continue to navigate life after losing their father.
Kelly’s ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, passed away at age 48 in August of last year following a private battle with cancer.
Kelly Opens Up About Leaving Her Talk Show
Since sharing her statement about ending The Kelly Clarkson Show after its seventh season, Kelly hasn’t really spoken much about it publicly.

That changed, though, recently when she appeared on the Today Show. She sat down with Carson Daly and opened up about her decision to step away.
“Our family life, the dynamic changed a bit,” Clarkson began. “And it has changed for a minute now.”
She continued, “We’ve all got kids, right? And it’s one of those things when you kind of start seeing life as how precious it is, too. And it’s like, you know what, I just, I’m really busy.”
Kelly also spoke about concerns from fans who worry they may not see as much of her. She made it clear that it isn’t the case.
Even though she will no longer be filming her talk show, she still has plenty of other appearances and projects lined up, and that isn’t going to change.
“I know everybody thinks, ‘Oh, she’s quit.’ I’m like, I still have other jobs, so I’m still doing stuff…there’s just too much on the plate,” she explained. “So I was like, you know what? It’s time to kind of pull back.”
At the end of the day, Kelly admitted it was a hard choice to make because it had nothing to do with the show struggling. Ratings were strong, and she loved the crew, who had become like family to her. Still, she said it was “an easy decision as a mama.”
We will miss seeing Kelly on our TVs during the week, but this is not the end of her time on television. In just a few days, fans will see her back in the iconic red chair on The Voice for Season 29.
And with more free time on her schedule, there’s no telling what new projects she might take on next.
