Kenny Chesney Reveals He Was Supposed To Be Near The World Trade Center On 9/11

Today marks 24 years since the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City. The tragedy claimed nearly 3,000 innocent lives.
No matter how much time has passed, we still honor and remember those victims. And for many, it is a day to hold our loved ones a little closer.
It is also a day of reflection for some people who had a close call and could have been victims themselves. Many have shared stories of how they were meant to be in the area on September 11, 2001. Somehow, fate kept them away, though.
One of those people is country music superstar Kenny Chesney. He has revealed that he was originally supposed to be near the Twin Towers when the attacks happened.
At the time, Chesney was scheduled to film a music video for his single “The Tin Man” just one block away from the World Trade Center. His team was traveling from Pennsylvania after a show the night before, but equipment delays held them up.
Because of this, the shoot was rescheduled, keeping them out of the area entirely.
“It didn’t hit me at first,” Chesney admitted during an interview with CMT in 2011.
At the time, the “American Kids” singer had completely forgotten about the video shoot. It wasn’t until he turned on the news and saw the footage showing the aftermath of the attacks that he realized how close a call it truly was.
“I was laying on the couch, just watching this and couldn’t believe what I was seeing, and I thought, ‘Oh, my God.’ I said, ‘We’re supposed to be there.’ And it was a weird feeling,” he recalled.
Looking back, Chesney says he believes his guardian angel was looking out for him and his team.
“You know, I’ve always believed in guardian angels, but it really makes you believe that there’s something up there. I’m glad we weren’t there. I mean, I feel for everybody that was there. I think we’ve all been changed forever by it.”
