Your Long-Awaited Questions Answered *FULL SPOILERS*
Christina A. Voros, the director of four of Yellowstone‘s Season 5 Part 2 episodes, sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to discuss the fate of John Dutton. The patriarch, played by Kevin Costner, will not be in this season.
Allegedly, the delayed filming and scheduling conflicts were too much for Costner “to appear in the final episodes, even though he made it clear he wanted to.
Voros, Yellowstone’s director, shared that everyone has a different idea about what should and will happen to John Dutton. She said:
“There’s so much anticipation. There was so much in the press about Kevin. And when you make a show that has such a beloved following, everyone is going to have their ideas about how it should end.”
Fans have speculated that he dies, moves away, and even that it is all a publicity stunt.
When the director was asked about the fate of Kevin Costner’s character, she responded: “His presence is integral. I think to say any more than that would potentially compromise all the work that went into redacting the scripts! (Laughs) But I think the reason people are wondering, ‘Is he, isn’t he? Where is he, where is he not?’ is because he is the patriarch and his presence is an essential component to the story. John Dutton is still central.”
Now, What’s The Fate Of Yellowstone‘s John Dutton?
The first episode of the long-awaited season is here, and the fate of John Dutton is revealed.
It is revealed that the patriarch of the Dutton family was killed in the Montana governor’s mansion. He endured a fatal gunshot wound.
The scene opens with his daughter, Beth Dutton, running towards the crime scene in clear panic. They do not let her in until her brother, Kayce Dutton, arrives and pushes his way through the red tape.
Once inside, the siblings walk slowly to the bathroom, where once inside, they both see their father dead. There is a gun on the floor, and you see a man dead, but not his face.
Once alone, Beth shares with her brother Kayce that she thinks Jaime, their adopted sibling, killed their father.
She whispered to him, “It was Jaime.”
The crime was staged to be a suicide, which is clearly an insult to the late John Dutton.
As the show progresses, it is revealed that Sarah Atwood gave the kill order.
Sarah Atwood is a corporate shark who works for Market Equities and is exploiting Jaime to take down the Dutton ranch.
This season is gearing up to be explosive.
