Actress Demi Moore Knows What Is Most Important In Life

Landman star Demi Moore recently opened up about a pivotal time in her life when she took a step back from work to focus on her family.

In a recent feature with Glamour, the 62-year-old reflected on the moment she realized the dream she had been chasing was no longer what she wanted.

“Well, it was a realization after striving, working hard, having the good fortune of certain films, having really enormous success, and that [was] able to keep me moving forward and giving me even greater opportunities,” Demi shared.

Demi, who has three daughters, Rumer (37), Scout (34), and Tallulah (31), with her ex-husband Bruce Willis, said she had to connect with what truly motivated her in life.

“And then certain personal things happen. My mother died, my marriage ended and I stepped back from work to be with my kids,” she continued. “And there was a moment I realized that my own success — which had been a real driving thrust, a real motivation — wasn’t enough.”

In addition to her daughters, Demi is also “yaya” — to granddaughter, and Rumer’s daughter, Louetta.

Demi Remains Close With Her Ex-Husband Bruce Willis

Despite having been divorced for over two decades, Demi remains extremely close with Bruce and his new wife, Emma, especially amid his battle with frontotemporal dementia (FTD).

The actress applauded Emma for the way she has handled the difficult diagnosis, especially being so young herself.

“Being the ex-wife, even though our family is very connected, is an interesting position,” Demi explained on the Sept. 2 episode of Oprah Winfrey’s podcast. “So much fell on Emma to really figure this whole thing out, and the most beautiful thing was recognizing the importance for caregivers and that they have to take care of themselves. If they don’t put that time into making sure that they’re okay, then they can’t show up for anyone else.”

Rumer told PEOPLE that it’s been “a delight” seeing her parents spend time with Louetta.

“She (Louetta) just gets so excited and it’s sweet, and my mom is so incredible with babies. She always has been, and so it’s such a delight to see them together,” Rumer said. “They’re so silly and wonderful.”

She shared that despite Bruce’s declining health, he is also a wonderful grandfather.

“Even with my dad, given the challenges that he’s dealing with, whenever we go over there to visit, his face just lights up and he gets so excited and is so sweet with her,” she said. “My family is so incredible with her. I feel so lucky, and she’s so lucky. I mean, they are obsessed with her.”
