Morgan Wallen Hits 1 Billion Spotify Streams For The Third Time
Morgan Wallen’s “Whiskey Glasses” has exceeded an impressive one billion streams on Spotify, an achievement only obtained by a few country artists.
This is Wallen’s third time reaching this incredible milestone, as he was the first solo country artist to achieve over one billion streams with his hit “Last Night.”
The song is just the twelfth country song ever to reach one billion streams on the streaming service.
The country superstar has now surpassed artists including Luke Combs and Zach Bryan with the amount of one billion streams.
“Whiskey Glasses” Still Popular Nearly 10 Years Later
Wallen released “Whiskey Glasses” as a single from his debut album, “If I Know Me”. While it first appeared on his 2016 EP “The Way I Talk”, it was re-released as a single in 2018.
The song, which talks about drinking away a painful breakup, gave the singer national recognition as it topped the country radio charts for three weeks during the summer of 2019.
Wallen admitted to PEOPLE in 2020 that the song drastically changed his life and truly launched his career.
“Before that, it kind of felt like we were on the cusp of breaking out and still trying to establish ourselves,” Wallen said. “When that song came around and had the success it did, I feel like it really sent us in a huge, right direction to be cemented in this format.”
“With the shows, it’s been insane to see how people react to that song and how it doesn’t seem to ever get old,” he continued. “It’s changed me and my band’s whole life, for sure.”
Morgan Wallen’s Continued Spotify Success
In August of 2024, Wallen’s song “Last Night” hit 1 billion streams on Spotify, the first song to ever reach that milestone in a year, and the first solo country song to ever do so.
Spotify recently showed the hit at around 1.26 billion streams to date.
Wallen’s collaboration with Post Malone, “I Had Some Help,” also broke 1 million streams on the streaming service in March of this year.
