Morgan Wallen’s 2024 Arrest In Nashville

In April 2024, country singer Morgan Wallen was arrested on felony charges for allegedly throwing a chair off the sixth story rooftop of Chief’s, Eric Church’s bar in Downtown Nashville.

The chair landed on the sidewalk near three police officers, who immediately went upstairs to investigate. Employees told the police officers that Morgan Wallen threw the chair and after watching surveillance footage, they arrested him.

He was later charged with “three counts of reckless endangerment for the two officers who were in the vicinity and for the danger to the public…Wallen was also charged with disorderly conduct.”

After he posted a $15,250 bond, he released from jail the next morning. Following the arrest, Wallen continued his massive tour and was also named the Entertainer of the Year at the 2024 CMA Awards.

Wallen later admitted that he was “not proud of his behavior,” and accepted responsibility over the ordeal.

Details Released Surrounding The Incident

Earlier this month, newly released footage from both officers’ body cameras and a patrol car, captured the moments before and after the incident.

When bar security told police that Wallen had thrown the chair, the singer repeatedly denied any knowledge of the incident.

The video shows Wallen standing on the sidewalk while officers went inside to review the bar’s footage. One officer explained they were trying to figure out how a chair had come flying off the rooftop and nearly struck his patrol car. Wallen responded, “As you should.”

At one point during the encounter, Wallen calls country star Eric Church, who co-owns the bar, and hands the phone to an officer so they can discuss the situation directly.

Extended Bodycam Footage Released From Night Of Wallen’s Arrest

Extended footage video edited and annotated by the Midwest Safety YouTube channel reveals an even closer look at the entire ordeal, and the moments that led to Wallen’s arrest.

The nearly 30 minute footage shows at first, Wallen is detained on Broadway, but as time passes, fans begin to recognize him. Some approach, asking for photos and handshakes, while police work to disperse the growing crowd.

Meanwhile, Wallen’s security team steps in, trying to stop onlookers from taking pictures or recording videos by having him turn his back to the sidewalk.

The country singer remains calm throughout the encounter, never raising his voice or refusing a police request. Wallen remains notably polite toward several officers and even engages in casual conversation, asking officers about their hometowns, baseball, and country music.

One of the sweet moments in the arrest video comes after Wallen is placed in the police cruiser. Still unaware of the charges he’s facing, he begins to express concern about how the situation might impact his time with his son.

“I got a little boy. Is this gonna affect my custody battle?” he asks.

Once at the station, the nurse recalls meeting Wallen during his arrest in 2020, and tells him the story of messing with him, not knowing who he was at the time.
