Morgan Wallen Arrested In Nashville

In April 2024, country singer Morgan Wallen was arrested on felony charges for allegedly throwing a chair off the sixth story rooftop of Chief’s, Eric Church’s bar in Downtown Nashville.

The chair landed on the sidewalk near three police officers, who immediately went upstairs to investigate. Employees told the police officers that Morgan Wallen threw the chair and after watching surveillance footage, they arrested him.

He was later charged with “three counts of reckless endangerment for the two officers who were in the vicinity and for the danger to the public…Wallen was also charged with disorderly conduct.”

After he posted a $15,250 bond, he released from jail the next morning. Following the arrest, Wallen continued his massive tour and was also named the Entertainer of the Year at the 2024 CMA Awards.

Wallen later admitted that he was “not proud of his behavior,” and accepted responsibility over the ordeal.

Wallen and his lawyer appeared in court in December 2024, where he plead guilty to two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment.

As part of Wallen’s plea deal, he spent seven days in a DUI education center and was ordered to two years of probation. Wallen also had to pay a $350 fine as well as court fees.

“Upon the successful completion of his probation, the charges will be eligible for dismissal and expungement. Mr. Wallen has cooperated fully with authorities throughout these last eight months, directly communicating and apologizing to all involved. Mr. Wallen remains committed to making a positive impact through his music and foundation,” Wallen’s lawyer, Worrick Robinson, said at the time.

Newly Released Bodycam Footage Details Wallen’s Arrest

Newly released footage from both officers’ body cameras and a patrol car, captures the moments before and after the incident.

When bar security told police that Wallen had thrown the chair, the singer repeatedly denied any knowledge of the incident.

The video shows Wallen standing on the sidewalk while officers went inside to review the bar’s footage. One officer explained they were trying to figure out how a chair had come flying off the rooftop and nearly struck his patrol car. Wallen responded, “As you should.”

At one point during the encounter, Wallen calls country star Eric Church, who co-owns the bar, and hands the phone to an officer so they can discuss the situation directly.

After reviewing the security footage, an officer returned from the bar and informed Wallen he was under arrest. The “Last Night” singer was then handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol car before being taken to jail.

Wallen repeated that he hadn’t done anything wrong and asked the officer who his favorite country artists were, and the officer said Wallen was in his top three. When a song featuring Wallen and Thomas Rhett started playing, he started saying it was him, asking the officers to “turn it up.”

“That’s me and TR! That’s me right there!” Wallen said. “TR is one of the best dudes in the world. He would definitely not be getting arrested.”
