Kaillie Humphries Was Recognized At The White House During A Women’s History Event

Fresh off her two Bronze Medals in bobsledding at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games, Kaillie Humphries was at the White House on Thursday, March 12.

There, she presented President Donald Trump with the Order of Ikkos medal — a moment which can be seen below — after delivering a few comments on what it means for her to be a female athlete.

“It’s a real honor to be here today,” Kaillie began, before tearfully adding, “Yes, I’m a six-time Olympic medalist, three of them gold, but the title I’m most proud of is ‘Mom.'”

Holding back tears of joy, Kaillie continued, “My journey to motherhood was a two-and-a-half year process through IVF, and I was constantly told that as soon as I became a mom, my career in athletics was gonna be over. I was never going to reach the Olympic podium again. Mentally physically, I could never get my body and my mind back.”

Responding to the naysayers of athletes continuing in their field after becoming mothers, Kaillie remarked, “I think the ultimate way to tell somebody that [says] ‘they’ll never do it’ is … to go out and do it.”

Holding up her two Bronze Medals from the 2026 Winter Games, she stated that “they feel like gold” in light of being able to win those medals while having a one-and-a-half-year-old baby boy, named Aulden.

Further, of her son, she said, “He is my gold medal, and will always be for the rest of my entire life.”

Offering a word to her fellow mothers, Kaillie said:

“I want to encourage every single mother out there to follow your dreams and don’t let anybody put limits on what you believe you can do.”

Watch President Trump Receive The Order Of Ikkos Medal

One of the highlights of the White House’s event celebrating Women’s History Month was when Kaillie Humphries presented President Trump with the Order of Ikkos medal.

According to the United States Olympic & Paralympic Museum website, the Order of Ikkos medal received its name from the first recorded Olympic coach in history, named Ikkos of Tarentum.

Created in 2008, the Order of Ikkos medal “is presented by Team USA medal-winning athletes to a coach, mentor or other individual who has been instrumental in their success.”

Noting that “Olympic medals are never achieved alone,” Kaillie began to tear up as she said, “So, I am here today, and am so honored, to present this — my Order of Ikkos medal — to you, Donald Trump.”

The audience erupted in applause, and Trump looked genuinely surprised. With this honor, he is the first American president to receive the Order of Ikkos medal.

Expounding upon why she selected Trump for the medal, Kaillie said:

“I want to recognize the support and the impact you’ve had on women’s sports throughout the Olympic movement. Specifically, standing up to keep biological women in women’s sports, to keep the field of play safe, and to allow for fair competition.”
