“She’s Got You” Was One Of The Best Songs Patsy Cline Ever Released

The song “She’s Got You” has gone down in history as one of the best tracks Patsy Cline ever released.

1961 was a big year for Cline. “I Fall to Pieces” became her first #1 hit that year. She followed it up with “Crazy,” which cracked the Top 10.

When it came time to release her follow-up single in 1962, she didn’t disappoint.

Singer-songwriter Hank Cochran wrote a song one day. Once he finished, he felt it would be Cline’s next #1 hit.

In the biography Honky Tonk Angel: The Intimate Story of Patsy Cline, author Ellis Nassour wrote that Cochran called Cline to tell her about the song. She was intrigued and told him to come to her house to play it.

The song, “She’s Got You,” captivated Patsy Cline. She found herself feeling deeply moved by the lyrics.

Nassour writes that Cline learned the song that night. She called her manager and producer to sing it to them. She recorded it at her next session.

“She’s Got You” Became Patsy’s Second (And Last) #1 Song

As Cochran predicted, “She’s Got You” became Cline’s second #1 song. It was also the last #1 hit of her career. She tragically died in a plane accident at the age of 30 in 1963.

“She’s Got You” was #1 on the country charts and climbed into the Top 20 on the Billboard Top 100, peaking at the 14th spot.

The song tells the story of a brokenhearted woman who looks through everything that reminds her of her lost love. While she has all the records and pictures to remind her of their relationship, she still doesn’t have the man she loves.

Patsy Cline once performed “She’s Got You” during a television appearance in 1962. Her connection to the song was obvious, making it an unforgettable performance. You can watch it in the video below.

When she first heard “She’s Got You,” Cline fell in love with it. We repeatedly fall in love with her every time we listen to her sing it.
