President Trump Calls Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show A “Slap In The Face” To The United States
on Feb 09, 2026

The President Decried Bad Bunny’s “Disgusting” Halftime Show, Making No Mention Of Turning Point USA’s Alternative Halftime Show
Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, which was broadcast during Super Bowl LX on Sunday, Feb. 8, saw the Puerto Rican rap sensation guide viewers through a set that was staged to resemble a community in Puerto Rico, and it was all set to the tune of his Grammy-winning music.
Featuring appearances by pop star Lady Gaga and Latin artist Ricky Martin, Bad Bunny performed for millions of viewers after months of criticism from some in the public, as well as several prominent politicians, including President Donald Trump.
Ahead of the game, Trump reportedly told The New York Post that he wouldn’t be attending the Super Bowl as he did the year before, citing its San Francisco location as being “just too far away.”
However, Trump didn’t stop there, as he also stated, alluding to the NFL’s halftime show selection of Bad Bunny and opening ceremony performer, Green Day, “I’m anti-them. I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible.”
Viewers of the Halftime Show will likely remember the billboard that was prominently featured during Bad Bunny’s performance, which read, “The only thing more powerful than hate is love.”
Further, the football at the end of Bad Bunny’s Halftime Show had the words “Together, we are America” painted on it.
Regardless, Trump took to Truth Social shortly after the performance ended, sharing his dismay with the Halftime Show.

Trump’s Comments On Bad Bunny’s Performance
Shortly after Bad Bunny’s Halftime Show performance had concluded, Trump posted his thoughts on the show on his Truth Social account.
“The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER!” he started. “It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence.”
Trump then said:
“Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World.”
Notably, the show was almost entirely in Spanish.
According to the 2020-2024 United States Census, 95.5% of the over 3.1 million people living in the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico speak a language other than English, with the dominant language of Puerto Rico being Spanish.
Regarding Trump’s comments on the “disgusting” dancing, that is believed to be one of the initial reasons an alternative halftime show was arranged by conservative organization Turning Point USA.
Pitched as an event “celebrating faith, family, and freedom,” Turning Point USA’s “All-American Halftime Show” was to provide a more family-friendly alternative to the often overly-sexualized performances that have frequented the stage of the Super Bowl.
Notably, Trump made no mention of the alternative halftime show, which featured Kid Rock as its headliner, with additional performances by Brantley Gilbert, Gabby Barrett, and Lee Brice.
Continuing his comments on Bad Bunny, Trump declared, “This ‘Show’ is just a ‘slap in the face’ to our Country … There is nothing inspirational about this mess of a Halftime Show and watch, it will get great reviews from the Fake News Media, because they haven’t got a clue of what is going on in the REAL WORLD.”

Trump Makes No Mention Of Turning Point USA’s Alternative Halftime Show
Absent from Trump’s comments on the Super Bowl was any mention of Turning Point USA’s alternative halftime show, called the “All-American Halftime Show.”
Offered for free as a livestream on YouTube, the alternative halftime show reportedly peaked around 5 million viewers.
As of the morning of Monday, Feb. 9, the livestream had accrued 19.2 million views.
The event — which featured Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Gabby Barrett, and Lee Brice — was also broadcast on Daily Wire+, Real America’s Voice, TBN, Charge!, The National News Desk, NTD, and OAN News.
Filmed on an indoor set, with occasional pyrotechnics and a patriotic visual scheme, the event felt divorced from not only the Super Bowl, but from football as a whole.
Further, its mission of “celebrating faith, family, and freedom” was largely relegated to focus on the subject of “freedom” alone.
While it didn’t receive a shoutout or endorsement from Trump, there was a member of the Trump administration who made an appearance in the “All-American Halftime Show”: Sec. of War Pete Hegseth.
In a video statement that was broadcast during the countdown to the livestream, Hegseth said, “From the War Department, we salute Turning Point USA and every American who still believes freedom is worth defending. Thank you for your courage as an organization, your clarity, and your leadership, and for this halftime show that the War Department is proud to support.”
Hegseth went on to say:
“This year, we marks 250 years since a band of citizens pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. For two-and-a-half centuries, Americans have answered that call on farms and factory floors, shipyard and labs, and cockpits and foxholes, and in every uniform our nation has worn. Freedom is not automatic, it is defended by a strong nation and a ready force, and that is our job. To our troops, our veterans, and the families who serve alongside them, we see you, we thank you, and we’ve got your back, so I hope you’re enjoying this game. Happy Freedom 250.”

Originally, the “All-American Halftime Show” was announced in October of 2025 by Turning Point USA.
There were some ruffled feathers though, as the announcement that TPUSA would be putting on an alternative halftime show came one week after Christian artists Forrest Frank and Cory Asbury had announced they would be working to put on their own alternative to the Super Bowl halftime show.
Called “Jesus Bowl ’26,” the event was to make Jesus the focus whole providing family-friendly entertainment.
This event never materialized after Forrest Frank and Cory Asbury met with officials from Turning Point USA.
“In the spirit of unity, Forrest and I jumped on a call with [Turning Point USA’s] team to talk it through,” Cory said, adding it was a “productive” and “amicable discussion.”
However, they said they wouldn’t be moving forward together, with Cory stating, “At the end of the day, the two visions are just incompatible.”
As of Feb. 9, neither Cory or Forrest have commented on TPUSA’s “All-American Halftime Show.”
