Remembering TPUSA CEO Charlie Kirk

On September 10, 2025, conservative commentator and Turning Point USA CEO Charlie Kirk was shot and killed while speaking on a college campus in Orem, Utah.

The incident happened while Charlie was under the pop-up tent for his “American Comeback Tour,” with hundreds of people gathered on the school’s campus.

He co-founded Turning Point USA in 2012, seeking to inspire the younger generation to embrace free speech. According to its website, Turning Point’s mission is to “identify, educate, train, and organize students to promote the principles of freedom, free markets, and limited government.”

Shortly after his death, his widow, Erika, became the new CEO of the organization. TPUSA reports it now has more than 900 chapters on college campuses nationwide.

On October 14th, 2025, on what would have been Charlie’s 32nd birthday, President Donald Trump signed a proclamation officially declaring the “National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk.”

Trump signed the proclamation with Erika standing by his side. As the President was marking his signature, he recalled a fond memory with Charlie from when he visited the White House.

The signing came shortly after Trump awarded Charlie the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor. During his February 24th State of the Union address, the President also paid tribute to the late conservative, honoring Erika in the crowd.

Trump Appoints Erika Kirk To Air Force Academy Position

Trump has now appointed Erika to fill a seat on the Air Force Academy’s Board of Visitors, the Gazette reports. Charlie was a member of the Board of Visitors and attended a meeting before he was killed last fall.

As a member of the Board of Visitors, Erika will become one of 16 individuals who will make recommendations to the Secretary of Defense regarding changes at the Air Force Academy.

According to their website, the “Board inquires into the morale, discipline, curriculum, instruction, physical equipment, fiscal affairs, academic methods and other matters relating to the Academy which the Board decides to consider.”

Other members of the board include 5th District Rep. Jeff Crank, Sen. Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, and Chairman Rep. August Pfluger of Texas, along with several other lawmakers.

While the Board did not announce Erika’s new position, her name now appears on their website.
