Randy Travis Releases His New Song “Where That Came From”

Randy Travis has returned to the spotlight with a brand-new song, marking his first release since 2013, when a severe stroke nearly took his life.
The announcement of his latest single, “Where That Came From,” comes after a long journey of recovery from aphasia, a condition that impaired his ability to speak and sing following the stroke. This latest track represents Randy Travis’s first original song recorded since then.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Travis thanked his family, friends, fellow artists, and fans for sticking by him and giving him the chance to dive back into his beloved music.
“Eleven years ago I never thought I would be able to have a hand in music production of any kind, but by God’s grace and the support of family, friends, fellow artists, and fans, I’m able to create the music I so dearly love,” Travis wrote.
“Working with Kyle Lehning and Warner Music Nashville again has been so special and nostalgic, and I’m so excited to share my new song ‘Where That Came From’ with you today,” he continued. “Many thanks to my wonderful team and the best fans in the world for putting me back in the saddle again! I’ve enjoyed every moment of it.”

Travis has been through a lot to reach this point. After his major stroke, his singing and speaking abilities were severely impacted. Since then, he’s been putting in a lot of effort to get better, sharing some of his old recordings like his album release Influence, Vol. 2: The Man I Am in 2014, which was mostly covers recorded before his stroke. Even today, speaking is tough for Travis, and he often leans on his wife for support during interviews. But despite these challenges, it’s clear that the country star is determined to make his long awaited comeback.
Although Randy Travis and his team have not disclosed specific details about the song’s production, there has been speculation surrounding the potential involvement of AI technology to recreate Travis’ voice, as suggested by Rolling Stone.
Needless to say, fans are over the moon to hear Travis’s iconic voice once again.
