Savannah Guthrie Says She’s “In Agony” During Tearful First Interview Since Mother’s Disappearance
on Mar 25, 2026

Nancy Guthrie Has Been Missing For Nearly Two Months
Savannah Guthrie is opening up to her close friend Hoda Kotb in her first interview since her mother went missing.
84-year-old Nancy Guthrie was reported missing on February 1, with authorities believing she may have been kidnapped from her home in Tucson, Arizona.
Nearly two months into the case, there are still no clear answers on who may be involved in her disappearance.
Last month, the FBI released photos and video showing a possible suspect outside Nancy’s home the night she was taken. The individual was wearing a black mask, and so far, the footage has not led to the identification of a prime suspect.

Early in the investigation, police cleared those closest to Nancy as possible suspects, raising even more questions about the motive behind her kidnapping.
In hopes of bringing her home safely, her family is offering a $1 million reward for any information on her whereabouts, with the option to remain anonymous.
Savannah Guthrie Sits Down For Her First Interview Following Mother’s Disappearance
On the Wednesday, March 25 episode of TODAY, it was announced that Savannah would sit down with her longtime colleague, Hoda Kotb, for her first interview since her mother’s disappearance.
The full interview will air in two parts on the morning show, beginning Thursday, March 26, with the second half set for Friday, March 27.
Ahead of the full conversation, a clip was released in which Savannah shared an emotional plea to anyone who may have information that could help solve the case.
“Someone needs to do the right thing. We are in agony. We are in agony. It is unbearable,” Savannah says in the preview.
“And to think of what she went through… I wake up every night in the middle of the night, every night,” she continued. “And in the darkness, I imagine her terror. And it is unthinkable, but those thoughts demand to be thought. And I will not hide my face. But she needs to come home now.”
Hoda has been filling in as co-anchor on TODAY while Savannah has been on leave amid the situation.
On March 5, she made her first visit back to the NBC studio to see her coworkers. A spokesperson for TODAY also confirmed that she will eventually return on air, though a specific timeline has not been announced.
