Team Blake’s Wendy Moten Dazzles With “Voice” Performance Of “Blue Bayou”

For years, Wendy Moten has performed backing vocals for artists such as Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, and Vince Gill. But more recently, she took center stage as one of the standout stars of Season 21 of The Voice.

Moten advanced to the live shows, where she wowed with a performance of Dolly Parton‘s “I Will Always Love You.” After her performance, her coach, Blake Shelton, said:

“I’m gonna say this, and I’m probably gonna catch a lot of heat for it, but I don’t care. I’ve been doing this show for 21 seasons, as a coach, and there is nobody that I want this more for, ever, than you. You deserve this.”

Moten was later revealed to be a member of the Top 13.

For her second live performance, Moten opted to cover the iconic song “Blue Bayou.” The song was co-written and first recorded by Roy Orbison in the early 1960s. But today, when most people think of “Blue Bayou,” they think of Linda Ronstadt‘s version.

Ronstadt released her cover of “Blue Bayou” in 1977. It was a Top 5 hit and is now known as her signature song.

Moten had a lot to live up to when she took to the Voice stage to cover “Blue Bayou.” But she rose to the challenge, and delivered a dazzling performance that showcased her softer side.

Once again, Moten’s coach was amazed with what he heard. After she finished singing, he called her, “one of the greatest vocalists we’ve had on ‘The Voice’ ever.”

Coaches Ariana Grande, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend were also blown away by Moten’s performance. They too, had lots of praise to offer to the talented singer.
