Some More Insights Into Phil Robertson’s Life Story

The Duck Dynasty fandom and the Robertson family bid a heartfelt farewell to Phil Robertson, who passed away over the weekend.

Many fans recognize Phil Robertson from his role in Duck Dynasty or perhaps from his podcast, Unashamed.

However, here are a few lesser-known facts about the reality star whom America has embraced. As noted in his obituary, Phil Robertson played football as a quarterback for Louisiana Tech University in his early years. He was even on the team with Terry Bradshaw and started over the football legend.

“He attended Louisiana Tech University. He was the quarterback of the football team and earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Education.”

Have you ever wondered how Duck Dynasty came to be?

He is not the inventor of the duck call mechanism, but he did invent his own version, which was the origin story of his lifelong career. He made a signature duck call and founded his company, Duck Commander.

“In 1972, Phil invented a double-reeded duck call and soon founded his company, Duck Commander. His first foray into the world of entertainment was through the creation of duck hunting videos, titled The Duckmen of Louisiana. This eventually led to his role on the successful television show Duck Dynasty, centered around the family and business, followed by the Unashamed podcast and the movie about his life story, The Blind.”

His obituary stated that, “His motto was ‘Faith, Family, Ducks,’ and he would make sure you knew it was, ‘In that order.’”

His daughter Phyllis

Although the family has been open about their story, some may not be aware that Phil had a tumultuous past.

Before finding salvation through Jesus at 28, he struggled with alcohol and infidelity.

He discovered he had a daughter named Phyllis only after she took a DNA test in 2020. Once it was confirmed, Phil shared a statement.

“I’ve been very open about my past. It’s not something I’m proud of. I was in a dark place, but God brought me to the light. It is amazing to see what beauty God can bring out of our messes. He makes wonderful things out of the ashes. My daughter is a living testimony of that.”
