One Of Country’s Most Iconic Duos

Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn…when it comes to country music duos, these two can’t be beat.

Together, Twitty and Lynn brought us some of country music’s greatest songs. Those include, but of course aren’t limited to, “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man” and “After the Fire is Gone.”

For four years in a row, Twitty and Lynn were named as the Vocal Duo of the Year at the CMA Awards. But perhaps the greatest honor of all is the fact that their duets have now been immortalized as part of country music history. 

Honoring One Of Their Best Duets

CMT validated this when it named “After the Fire is Gone” as the 10th greatest country duet of all time in its CMT 100 Greatest Duets Special.

You may find it upsetting that the song didn’t rate higher on the list, but don’t fret. You see, Twitty and Lynn had another duet come in the #2 spot, and it was none other than”Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man.”

During the special, modern-day artists took to the stage to perform their own renditions of the top-ranking duets. Show hosts Trace Adkins and Terri Clark were tasked with singing “After the Fire is Gone,” and they did an outstanding job.

The two of them gave a performance that Twitty and Lynn would be proud of. No one could ever match the intensity that those two put into their duets, but Adkins and Clark came as close as anyone could get.
