The President Encouraged A Boycott Of The “Born In The USA” Singer

Bruce Springsteen has never been one to shy away from politics, but his recent appearances in Minnesota have attracted the ire of President Donald Trump.

“This past winter, Federal troops brought death and terror to the streets of Minneapolis,” said Springsteen at a concert in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on March 31.

This was an allusion to the killings of Minneapolis residents Alex Pretti and Renee Good, who were slain by ICE and Border Patrol, respectively.

Commending the people of Minneapolis for their “power and solidarity,” Springsteen said of DHS agencies that were deployed to the city by the Trump administration, “Well, they picked the wrong town.”

Continuing, he said, “This is still America, and this will not stand.”

Later, Springsteen then got even more pointed with his words, saying:

“This White House is destroying the American idea and our reputation around the world. To many, we are no longer looked upon as an often imperfect but strong defender of democracy standing for the global good. We are no longer the ‘land of the free and the home of the brave.’ We are now, to many, ‘America the reckless, unpredictable, predatory rogue nation.'”

He added, “That is this administration’s and this president’s legacy. This is happening now.”

Responding to the criticism, President Donald Trump took to Truth Social on April 2, insulting Springsteen both as an artist and for his physical appearance.

Trump then wrote, “The guy is a total loser who spews hate against a President who won a Landslide Election, including the popular vote, all Seven Swing States, and 86% of the Counties across America. Under Sleepy Joe and the Dems, our Country was DEAD, and now we have the ‘hottest’ Country, by far, anywhere in the World.”

From there, Trump then wrote in all caps, encouraging a boycott of Springsteen’s shows, adding, “SAVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.”

Bruce Springsteen Sings Anti-Trump Song At No Kings Protest

A few days before Bruce Springsteen’s show in Minneapolis, he made an appearance in St. Paul, Minnesota, on March 28, at the city’s demonstrations that were part of the nationwide “No Kings” movement.

Citing, the United States’ ongoing military action in Iran, law enforcement tactics utilized by ICE, and perceived “attacks” on the First Amendment’s right to freedom of speech, the protests were held, according to the No Kings website, because President Donald Trump “wants to rule over us as a tyrant. But this is America, and power belongs to the people — not to wannabe kings or their billionaire cronies.”

Introducing Springsteen to the stage was Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who noted, “We need no damn kings, but I’ll tell you what I’m glad we have: we do need a ‘Boss.’ Please we welcome Bruce Springsteen.”

There, Springsteen delivered the same remarks he made at his concert in Minneapolis, excluding his comments about the Trump administration, specifically.

He then broke out into song, performing his new anti-Trump ballad, titled “Streets Of Minneapolis.”

One of the song’s verses, reads:

“Trump’s federal thugs beat up on his face and his chest. Then we heard the gunshots. and Alex Pretti lay in the snow dead. Their claim was self-defense, sir, just don’t believe your eyes. It’s our blood and bones, and these whistles and phones against Miller and Noem’s dirty lies.”
