Taylor Sheridan’s Journey With Yellowstone
Taylor Sheridan has built an empire off of Yellowstone, and the journey has undoubtedly had its fair share of ups and downs along the way.
Sheridan didn’t find success right away when trying to get the series made. He first sold the show to HBO, but after some initial interest, the network backed out and decided not to move forward.
Sheridan later took the project to Paramount Network, where Yellowstone became a breakout hit and established itself as one of television’s most popular dramas.

Taylor Sheridan to Leave Paramount for NBCUniversal
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sheridan is now preparing to part ways with Paramount. The Tulsa King creator has reportedly signed a major new deal with NBCUniversal that will begin with films and later expand to television.
Sheridan’s current TV agreement with Paramount runs through the end of 2028, after which he will officially transition to NBCUniversal to develop new projects. While his existing Paramount shows will remain with that studio, Sheridan will create original content under his new banner once the move takes effect.
In August, news broke that Sheridan was teaming up with Paramount to build what he claimed would be the largest film and TV studio in Texas.
The new production campus, located in Fort Worth’s Alliance area, spans 450,000 square feet and includes state-of-the-art sound stages, production offices, post-production facilities, and more.
It is unknown at this time as to whether or not these plans are still in the works.
What’s Coming Up For Sheridan?
Sheridan’s next film project, an action-thriller titled F.A.S.T., is currently set up at Warner Bros. His upcoming deal with NBCUniversal is expected to be a lucrative one, no surprise given his track record, but it will require him to develop entirely new intellectual property once he officially makes the move in a few years.
Paramount retains ownership of Yellowstone and the other franchises Sheridan created under its banner.
His shows have become a cornerstone of the Paramount+ streaming service, and with numerous active projects still in development, his influence on the platform is expected to continue beyond his eventual transition to NBCUniversal.
