Zach Top Says He Had No Clue About His CMA Nomination Until a Friend Texted “Congratulations”

Zach Top Is Nominated for a CMA Award for the First Time
Zach Top has been making a name for himself in the country music scene, and he’s doing it quickly.
The Washington State native left his farm life behind to pursue music full-time, and it’s proving to be a great choice for him. His old-time sound, reminiscent of classic country, has earned him a large fan base, allowing him to share the stage with country stars like Lainey Wilson and Riley Green.
Top also released his first studio album Cold Beer & Country Music, in April of this year, which has undoubtedly changed his life as he continues to rise as one of the genre’s fastest-growing newcomers.
Needless to say, it doesn’t seem like Zach Top’s success is slowing down anytime soon, especially since he was just nominated for the first time at the 58th annual CMA Awards for the 2024 CMA’s New Artist of the Year. Joining him in the category are Megan Moroney, Shaboozey, Nate Smith, Mitchell Tenpenny, and Bailey Zimmerman.
Of course, it’s an exciting honor for any up-and-coming country artist to be recognized, and you’d think the artist would be one of the first to hear the great news. However, in an interview with Fox News Digital, Zach Top revealed that he didn’t know he was nominated until a friend texted him about it.

“I’m not on socials or anything,” Top told the outlet, explaining why he didn’t know about his nomination. “Somebody just texted me, ‘congratulations.” And then I didn’t know why. So, I texted back, and I was like, ‘Thanks. For what?’ And [they] sent me the screenshot then off Instagram where they [had] seen I was on the nominations. So I was like, thanks. That’s pretty cool.”
Top is right— it is pretty cool. And he has even more to look forward to in the upcoming year.
Zach Top To Headline “Cold Beer & Country Music” Tour
Last month, Zach Top announced that he will be hitting the road on his first headlining tour in 2025.
With special guests Jake Worthington and Cole Goodwin, Top will travel across the country to play 13 shows as of now. He’ll kick things off on January 16 in Omaha, Nebraska, and the tour is set to run until March 8, when he wraps up in Atlanta, Georgia.
