John Wayne is without a doubt an American icon. His talent and films are timeless. We've all probably seen at least one of his movies, whether it's one of his more popular films like True Grit, or a lesser known ones. He's even brought us this fantastic patriotic song.
John Wayne has touched many lives, and though he's no longer with us, he will live on and on - not just through his movies, but also through this touching song that his granddaughter, Jennifer Wayne, wrote in honor of her grandfather. It's called "God Bless John Wayne" and talks about everything he was and what he meant to Jennifer and his immense fanbase.
Jennifer wrote this beautiful tribute for John's 100th birthday. It starts off with He comes in with two guns blazing / the only man with true grit / he saves the day / he gets the girl / and rides off into the sunset, but then it gets deeper and more meaningful, letting us know all the life lessons that this cowboy taught us, like getting up early, don't waste the daylight, know right from wrong, love your family, stay strong, and so much more.
God bless Main Street and fifty cent and Chevrolet
God bless hot dogs and baseball games
And God bless liberty holding up her flame
God bless John Wayne
Jennifer Wayne is both a singer and songwriter and it's apparent just how talented she is. It obviously runs in the Wayne blood. Her emotional tribute to her late grandfather is so well done and will have y'all reminiscing all those times you sat down and watched one of his phenomenal films and what lessons were learned. John Wayne taught us to stand up for ourselves, be brave, love your family and love your country. We'll leave you with one of his most famous quotes.
"Courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyway."
