The Buckaroos were a Grammy winning band led by Buck Owens from the 1960s to early 70s. They were heavily involved in what was known as the "Bakersfield sound" and it's creation. A country band that originated out of Bakersfield, CA their music was instantly a hit. The original members of the group were Don Rich, Doyle Holly, Tom Brumley and Willie Cantu, but the group had such greats as Merle Haggard perform with them for short periods of time.
The song "I've Got A Tiger By The Tail" was released in December of 1964 and became an instant hit, topping the US Billboard Hot Country Singles chart in February. It was written by Buck and Harlan Howard. It is Buck Owens and the Buckaroos biggest hit and only top 40 hit. In the video below we see a young Buck and his Buckaroo's performing the song in 1966.
