14-Year Old Sells Cow For $210,000

14-year old Jagger Horn from Anson, Texas, earned some serious cash with the sale of his grand champion steer at the Fort Worth Stock Show’s Sale of Champions on Saturday. The steer, aptly named Big Boy, weighed in at 1,362 pounds and was purchased by Hillwood Properties, a real estate development company founded by Ross Perot Jr.

With a purchase price of $210,000, Big Boy came in $30,000 under last year’s grand champion, and the hurting gas & oil industry could be to blame. But, Jagger Horn wasn’t complaining. The high school student is making a habit out of raising some high-dollar cattle.

“I won the San Antonio Stock Show [last year] and got $130,000 for that steer,” said Jagger adding that Saturday’s sale gave him some serious bragging rights. “This is the best one because it is the most competitive. I think it is the best show in the nation.”

Just what does a 14-year old do with that kind of money? In Jagger’s case, he plans to invest some in more show cattle and save the rest for a college education.

The $154.18 a pound Big Boy will be donated to the Fort Worth Zoo.
