Young Girl Takes On “Simple” Southern Classic
Lynyrd Skynyrd‘s “Simple Man” is one of their greatest and most beloved songs of all time. Since it has such an important status in music history, few have dared to touch it over the yeas.
But one 15-year-old girl was willing to step up to the challenge, and she conquered it.
Morganne Warner started singing at the young age of 5, and got her start performing in church.
She is a fan of multiple genres of music, but according to her Facebook page, she says she likes to “stick with songs with soul and meaningful, uplifting words.”
Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” fits perfectly into that category, which is why it comes as no surprise that Morganne chose to cover the tune.
Hear Her Take on This Tune
Not only did Morganne perform a vocal cover of “Simple Man,” but she recorded a guitar cover as well. As you see Morganne singing in the video below, it is her own guitar track that you hear playing over the top of her vocals.
As if covering the song vocally wasn’t enough, it takes a great talent to be able to sing it and play it on guitar!
When it comes to her vocal delivery, Morganne puts forth a heartfelt and soulful performance. You can see the emotion in her face, which translates over into her voice, making for the passionate performance we’re sure Ronnie intended when he wrote the song.
At only 15 years old, Morganne proved she has the qualities it takes to be a big star. We can’t wait to see where he musical journey takes her from here. Tune in to the video below to see her “Simple Man” cover, and let us know what you think!
