This year’s ACM Awards were full of exciting honors and performances as each well-deserving country artist took the stage. With country music booming, it’s no wonder so many awards were given out. But the biggest award of the night went down when Entertainer of the Year was announced.
Over the decades, a series of talented country artists have taken home the legendary title. In 1970, Merle Haggard took home the award with flying colors. In the 80s, Alabama took home the award five years in a row. Since then, Garth Brooks, Reba, Hank Williams Jr, and so many more have all been recognized with the Entertainer of the Year award.
While the title has so much history to live up to, it is no question that these five nominees have some big shoes to fill.
Aldean has won 14 ACM Awards over the course of his career – three of those being Entertainer of the Year. Since 2005, the “Dirt Road Anthem” singer has been nominated for several ACMs with many show-stopping performances under his belt as well. This year, Jason has also been nominated with the Artist of the Decade award.
Bryan has won eight ACM Awards since his first one in 2009 – two of those being Entertainer of the Year. The “Crash My Party” singer continues to swoon fans with his chart-topping hits.
Since the late 90s, Chesney has won 12 ACM Awards – four of those being Entertainer of the Year. In 2014, he was recognized with the 5oth Anniversary Milestone Award.
Stapleton has won nine ACM awards just since 2015! Although he hasn’t taken home the Entertainer of the Year award yet, he has won plenty of well-deserving titles including Album of the Year.
Since 2000, Urban has won 14 ACM Awards including Top Male Vocalist and Album of the Year. With the release of his latest album, fans are hoping he gets his big win!
The 51-year-old Australian singer/songwriter has taken home his very first win for ACM Entertainer Of The Year – and we have to say: this was very well-deserved!
We couldn’t be happier for him – and plus, he also took the time to release a brand new song for fans, “Burden” which is a cover of a Foy Vance song.
Congrats to this country superstar and his big win!
