The Bartlett Bee Whisperer, a professional bee remover, was called in to remove a few bees from a house built in 1924. What he ended up stumbling upon was a hive that had 30 feet of comb and took over nine hours to remove.

The old house is located in Eurekaton, Tennessee and he said according to the look of the combs, the bees have been there for over 50 years. When he first got to the home he used a heat signature to find the bees and then called his friend to say they’re looking at eight-feet of hive.

The bee whisperer setup his equipment outside where he got the heat signature and started pulling boards away. He said it was a tough old house so it was painstakingly slow for him.

Carefully, Bartlett vacuumed the bees off the combs and then cut the combs into the proper length and width to fit into a hive frame box. After taking care of the side of the house, he then moved under the balcony deck and began removing boards and found more hive.

Most of the deck combs were dry but the ones closest to the wall were filled with honey. The whole time he was removing the combs he said he was looking for the queen in which he finally found. She was in the wall towards the bottom of the hive and Bartlett placed her in a queen cage.

He later found another queen bee in his trash bucket that was surrounded by fighter bees protecting her and placed her in a queen cage as well. Bartlett ended up removing two colonies, two queens, and filled twelve frame boxes with bees and 30 feet of comb.

It was the largest bee hive he’s ever removed. He posted pictures of it on his Facebook commenting on the whole process. You can take a look at that below to see the hive for yourself and get more details on the removal.
