On Friday, February 2, Air Force veteran Justin Holmes released his first-ever studio single, “Drink You Down.”

A native of Paducah, Kentucky, Justin Holmes was raised on country artists including Alan Jackson, Tracy Lawrence, Randy Travis and of course, Kentucky’s own Keith Whitley. He was a fan of singers who, as he says, “kept it country.”

With the release of Holmes’ first studio single, we would like to introduce y’all to some of his best live performances.

He has participated in a couple different live sessions Country Rebel has put on, including the 2019  “George Jones Sessions,” where he was one of over 30 musicians to perform acoustically at the George Jones Museum in Nashville.

5. “Don’t Close Your Eyes”

In 2017, Holmes sent Country Rebel a video of himself singing Keith Whitley’s iconic song “Don’t Close Your Eyes.” We posted it to our Facebook page, and it went viral, gaining over two million views nearly overnight.

4. “Murder On Music Row”

During the 2019 George Jones Sessions, Holmes teamed up with Scotty Alexander to perform the epic George Strait and Alan Jackson song “Murder on Music Row.” Seeing as they were performing the song at the George Jones Museum on Music Row, this was very fitting! And what an incredible performance.

3. “On The Other Hand”

Holmes was part of our Randy Travis’ birthday celebration in 2022 at the Rebel Ranch. He, along with singer-songwriters Tony Jackson and Karissa Ella, performed Travis’ biggest hits with the legend sitting right beside them. No pressure!

Holmes took on the 1985 song “On The Other Hand.” It peaked at number 67 on the charts that year. The song was reissued as a single in 1986 and it became his very first #1 hit, The song’s success is a true testament of who Randy Travis is: a person who never gives up.

2. “Damn Addiction”

Holmes also performed solo during the 2019 George Jones sessions. One of the songs he sang was an original song titled “Damn Addiction.” In January 2022, TikTok users began using the audio of this performance, creating thousands of videos! It made its way over to SoundCloud, where it was streamed over 220,000 in a month.

In February 2022, Holmes was signed to the newly-launched Country Rebel Records and released the audio of this track to all music streaming services. On Spotify alone, the song has over 15.5 million streams.
