ABC Addresses Reports Of Jimmy Kimmel Live! Cancellation

ABC is addressing speculation surrounding the future of Jimmy Kimmel Live! after rumors surfaced that the late-night show could be canceled at the end of its current season.

“This information is inaccurate — any reports about the future of the show at this point are purely speculative,” an ABC Entertainment spokesperson confirmed to Page Six.

The clarification comes after several media outlets reported that Jimmy Kimmel Live! would end after its 24th season, which kicked off Tuesday night on ABC.

According to sources who spoke with TMZ, Kimmel, who has a year-to-year contract with ABC, has recently been exploring other projects, including a podcast and potential new television shows.

The rumor also comes after Kimmel’s wife, Molly McNearney, discussed his eventual retirement during an appearance on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast.

“I feel like Jimmy has a fly rod in one hand and a torch in the other right now,” McNearney said. “I”s like he deserves to go out there and just be on the river and relax, but I also want him to keep fighting. And I feel this sense of desire to not quit because I think what he’s doing is incredibly important right now.”

Jimmy Kimmel Live! first premiered in January 2003 and has since become a late-night staple, producing approximately 4,000 original episodes over its 23-year run.

The show was briefly suspended last year following remarks he made in the aftermath of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk’s death.

When the show returned about a week later, Kimmel expressed regret over his remarks and became emotional as he said it was never his “intention to make light of the murder of a young man.”
