Who We Are

Country Rebel was built by country music fans, for country music fans. Since 2014, we’ve covered the artists, the songs, and the moments that matter to the people who live and breathe this music — from the legends who built the genre to the new voices carrying it forward. We’re an independent, founder-owned publication, and we treat this community with the respect it deserves.

This page lays out how we work: how we report and verify our stories, where our independence comes from, how we handle mistakes, and the lines we won’t cross. We hold ourselves to these standards every day — and we invite you to hold us to them too.

Our Commitment to Accuracy

Getting it right matters more to us than getting it first. We check our reporting against credible, verifiable sources, our editors review our work, and we link to our sources wherever possible so you can see where our information comes from. When news is still developing, we tell you what we know, what we don’t yet know, and we update as the facts come in.

How We Source Our Stories

  • Primary sources first. We lead with official statements, verified social accounts, press releases, public and court records, and direct interviews — not second-hand reports.
  • Social media is a starting point, not proof. A viral post or a fan account is a lead, not a confirmed fact. We verify before we publish, and when something isn’t confirmed we say so plainly — “reportedly,” “according to [source]” — instead of presenting rumor as fact.
  • Named sources whenever possible. We name our sources so you can weigh them yourself. On the rare occasion we grant anonymity, it’s only when the information is genuinely in the public interest and can’t be reported any other way, and only with an editor’s sign-off.
  • Developing stories are labeled. Country music news breaks fast. When a story is still unfolding, we label it as developing and update it as we learn more.

Corrections & Updates

We’re human, and sometimes we get something wrong. When we do, we fix it quickly and openly. When we correct or substantially update a published story, we add an “Updated” date at the top, and for significant corrections a brief note on what changed — so you always know how current a story is. Spot an error? Email us at corrections@countryrebel.com and we’ll review it promptly.

Editorial Independence

Our editorial coverage can’t be bought. No payment, gift, or favor earns a place in our reporting, a favorable review, or any say in what our newsroom chooses to cover — those decisions belong to our editorial team, guided by what matters to country music fans. (Review copies, tickets, and early access are a normal part of music coverage — see below — and never come with strings attached.)

We do publish paid editorials, and we keep them completely separate from that independent coverage — and clearly marked. When a partner sponsors a feature, our team still writes it ourselves (we don’t run anyone’s copy word-for-word), and we label it with a clear “Sponsored” tag at the top, naming the partner. That label is the line between our journalism and our paid features, so the two are never mistaken for one another.

Conflicts of Interest

Country music is a tight-knit world, and our writers know the people they cover. When a writer has a personal or professional relationship with someone in a story, we disclose it or reassign the piece. Our team doesn’t accept gifts, payments, or favors that could compromise — or appear to compromise — our independence.

Reviews, Concerts & Early Access

Like every music outlet, we receive advance albums, review copies, and tickets to shows. Accepting them never obligates us to a positive review — or to any coverage at all. Our praise is earned and our criticism is honest. When an artist or label provided access that’s relevant to a story, we’ll tell you.

Our Use of AI

Country Rebel is written by people. We may use AI-powered tools to help with research, transcription, and the mechanics of producing a story — but every article we publish is written, edited, and stands behind a member of our team. We don’t publish auto-generated articles, and we never use AI to fabricate a quote, a person, or an event.

On images: the photos of artists and public figures you see here are real — official, properly licensed images, or used with the express permission of the artist, their label, or their representatives. We may use AI for background elements or light enhancements, but never to pass off an artificial image as a real news photo.

Advertising, the occasional affiliate partnership, paid editorials, and our own merchandise are what let us keep Country Rebel free for fans. We keep a clear wall between that business and our newsroom:

  • Display advertising is managed by our ad partner and never dictates our coverage.
  • Affiliate links, when we use them, may earn us a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you — and we disclose them.
  • Paid editorials are always labeled, as described above.

Our Team & Bylines

Every article carries a byline, and every byline links to the writer behind it. Our newsroom is led by Editor-in-Chief Miranda Raye, and our writers are country music fans and specialists you can read about on their author pages. You have a right to know who’s telling you the story.

Fairness & Respect

We cover a community we’re part of. We strive to be fair, to represent a range of voices across the genre, and to treat the people in our stories — and the people reading them — with respect, even when we’re being critical.
