Ace Hardware Is Honoring Fallen Heroes
Ace Hardware is taking a big step to help Americans observe Memorial Day.
In honor of the service members who died fighting in the line of duty, the hardware store is giving away 1 million free American flags on Saturday, May 24.
Ace, together with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), is offering the 8-by-12-inch flags to customers at participating locations nationwide.
To kick off the season, stores will also be throwing a “Summer BBQ Party” on the same day, with sales on patio furniture, grills, outdoor equipment and more.
“Ace is proud to support this important initiative and offer American flags to both our customers and the VFW in remembrance of those who gave their lives in service,” Ace Hardware’s chief marketing officer Kim Lefko said. “With our stores nationwide, this is a special opportunity for Ace, our customers, and our team members to come together and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice.”

What Is The Veterans Of Foreign Wars?
According to their website, the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States is a “nonprofit veterans service organization comprised of eligible veterans and military service members from the active, guard and reserve forces.”
The nonprofit is responsible for funding many memorials including ones for the Vietnam War, Korean War, World War II and Women in Military Service.
The VFW also supports veterans through various programs, including VA claims assistance, legislative advocacy, financial assistance, and educational grants.
The organization is proud to be teaming up with Ace for the Memorial Day event, saying all who paid the ultimate price for freedom will never be forgotten.
“We are grateful to work alongside Ace to remember and honor those who have fallen in service to our nation,” VFW national commander Al Lipphardt, a Vietnam War veteran, said.
