ACM Awards Hand Out Male Vocalist of the Year

Back in February, ACM Awards host Reba McEntire stopped by CBS This Morning to announce some of the nominations.

During the broadcast, and with the help of hosts Gayle King and Norah O’Donnell, McEntire announced that the Duo of the Year nominees are Brothers Osborne, Dan + Shay, Florida Georgia Line, Locash, and Maddie & Tae, while Group of the Year are as follows: Lady Antebellum, LANCO, Little Big Town, Midland, Old Dominion.

She then revealed that Dierks Bentley, Luke Combs, Thomas Rhett, Chris Stapleton, and Keith Urban are up for Male Artist of the Year, while Miranda Lambert, Ashley McBryde, Maren Morris, Kacey Musgraves, and Carrie Underwood are nominated for Female Artist of the Year.

The ACM Awards kicked off with an excellent opening performance from ______, followed by a hilarious monologue from the hostess with the most-ess, Reba! The next hour of the show flew by thanks to all the incredible performances from George Strait, Miranda Lambert, and more.

Well, the moment finally came to hand out Male Vocalist of the Year and a huge congratulations are in order!

Hunter Hayes and actress Beth Behrs presented Male Artist of the Year.

They read off the nominees’ names, and then after a little bit of banter, opened the envelope to reveal the winner – Thomas Rhett.

Over the last few years, Stapleton and Rhett have traded off winning this award, with the former winning for the years 2015 and 2017, and the latter winning in 2016 and 2018. Even though the ACMs are held in 2019, the awards are recognizing the work done in 2018.

In his speech, he thanks his “smokin’ hot” wife, Lauren, God, and his fans.
