After Adam’s “Voice” Departure in 2019, Blake Says Gwen “Saved The Show”

Before The Voice even wrapped up Season 16 in the spring of 2019, they revealed that John Legend, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, and Kelly Clarkson, would be “back for more.” The show tweeted the announcement saying, “This iconic squad is returning to The Voice next season.”
That tweet has since been deleted.
During a segment on the TODAY Show May 24, Carson Daly revealed the shocking news that despite confirming he’d come back next season, Adam Levine had quit the show.
“After sixteen seasons, Adam Levine, our beloved coach and friend, has decided to leave ‘The Voice,” Daly said, reminding fans that the Maroon 5 frontman was one of the original coaches and had won the show three times.
In the same announcement, Daly announced that Gwen Stefani would be replacing Levine for the upcoming 17th season. Once filming began, the coaches were getting back into the swing of things, including Stefani, who hadn’t appeared as a coach in a few seasons.
One person that was thankful for her stepping up to replace Levine? Her boyfriend of over four years, Blake Shelton. Not only does he enjoy working with his girlfriend, he also credits her for saving the show!
According to Taste of Country, Shelton said, “I think (Stefani’s return) kind of saved the show with Adam going away. There’s no way around it.”
