Hurricane Michael hit Florida in early October 2018, but its aftermath continues to be devastating.

Students remain out of school, millions are without clean water and electricity, 35 lives have been claimed, and many have lost their homes – including Luke Bryan‘s mom, LeClaire Bryan.

LeClaire was completely devastated when she returned to her Mexico Beach, FL residence 9 days after Michael hit. The storm wiped out her home – leaving only memories behind.

She allowed a photographer to follow her on the emotional journey of going through her home, finding scattered pieces of the life she had lived there.

Emotionally distraught, she took a moment to lean against the back of a can-am vehicle that was probably the only way to safely get in and out of the debris-ridden area.

When Hurricane Michael first hit, Luke had asked fans for a very heartfelt favor. Knowing his mother’s home was in danger as well as the homes of friends and neighbors, he asked fans to pray.

Bryan took to Twitter asking,“Hey everyone. Pray for my people. So many dear people I know are being affected. My mother and so many friends live in Mexico beach. And now it’s bearing down on Albany and Leesburg.”

And fans did. Many offered their prayers and positive thoughts while some even offered to assist first hand and have “boots on the ground.”

After a few days of rummaging through the debris, LeClaire and her neighbors in Mexico Beach have started making progress in the right direction.

Bryan took to social media to say thanks with a sweet video of his mama thanking all the fans for their love and support. He told fans, “Thank you so much for all the outpouring of concern for my mama over the past couple of weeks. She and her friends are sticking together and helping each other in their communities during this devastating time. Many continued prayers for those along the gulf coast and South Georgia. Love y’all.”
