Christian singer Amy Grant recently shared her inspiring story of overcoming a challenging bike accident in 2022, which resulted in an unexpected facelift.
Speaking with E! News, Grant opened up about the ordeal that led to an unexpected facelift and a new outlook on life.
It all started when she hit a pothole while biking near her Nashville, Tennessee home. This accident left Grant with a brain injury and other long lasting problems. But, what she didn’t realize is that it also led to the discovery of an unknown cyst in her throat.
The crash made the cyst grow rapidly, making doctors perform an immediate surgery on Grant.
Grant recalled, “I had this bike wreck and, unbeknownst to me, I actually had a cyst growing in my throat and because of the trauma of that bike wreck it went into hypergrowth.”
“I had this five-hour surgery, and they took it out,” she added.
She shares that before the surgery, doctors offered her a facelift while removing the cyst. Even though she said no, when she woke up afterward, she noticed her neck was tighter.
“They asked me, ‘Hey, we’re going into your throat, do you want a face-lift?’ And I said, ‘Dear God, no, I actually have to be on stage in X number of weeks,'” she explained.
“I didn’t ask for it, but I came out of surgery and my neck was a little tighter.”
And although the results were an initial shock, Grant joked that afterwards she felt like an “old beat-up car that went in and got a paint job and had the dents knocked out. And it was just, I mean, that’s a gift.”
In addition to the physical challenges, Grant also deals with short-term memory problems from her injury and had to relearn singing after the surgery. Despite these challenges, she manages to find humor in her occasional difficulties with balance.
“My balance is still weird,” grant explained. “I made a joke about it last night. You know, sometimes I walk around like I’m drunk, and I just have to laugh about all of it.”
After recovering from her accident, Amy Grant is finally back and ready to tour again. She’s currently just began her “Spring Tour” and has multiple dates planned to perform throughout the country.

“My reasons for touring are — I don’t get on stage because I need to hear applause, I have always loved creating spaces, and I do think it feels like that continues to matter,” she said.
